Were the Pharisees Fundamentalists?

I am certain that many will disagree with my analysis of whether the Pharisees were fundamentalists or not. Primarily due to that fact that my analysis runs counter to the most popular and common definitions of what fundamentalism is, which is not at all what the dictionary says it is.
