Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not
any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. He
preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the
poor. He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with
kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them
for ever, and they are exalted. And if they be bound in
fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction; Then he
sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have
exceeded. He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth
that they return from iniquity. If they obey and serve
him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their
years in pleasures. But if they obey not, they shall perish by
the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. But the
hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth
them. They die in youth, and their life is among the
unclean. (Job 36:5-14)
Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to
inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see
it. I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading
himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he
was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end
of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall
be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he
is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall
help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the
wicked, and save them, because they trust in him. (Psalm
37:34-40)

A little that the righteous hold
Is better than the wealth untold
Of many wicked men;
Destroyed shall be their arm of pride,
But they who in the Lord confide
Shall be upholden then.
He knows the days the perfect live
To them a heritage will give
Which ever shall abide;
In evil times no shame they know,
And in the days of famine’s woe
They shall be satisfied.
Although the wicked prospered seem,
At last they vanish like a dream
And perish in a day;
Jehovah’s foes shall soon appear
Like fields once fair, now brown and sere;
Like smoke they fade away.
They borrow oft and not pay back;
But righteous men do nothing lack,
And give with gracious hand;
Those cursed by Him shall be destroyed,
But such as have His grace enjoyed,
They shall possess the land.
